A dark chapter returns: Stripping citizenship
Summary: The government is looking into taking away citizenship from some Americans, a process called "denaturalization." In the past, this happened to thousands of people, especially during the "Red Scare." In 1967, the Supreme Court made it very hard to do this. But now, the Justice Department has a new quota to cancel the citizenship of hundreds of people. Some politicians are even writing bills to target people they disagree with, like Muslims or socialists, including members of Congress. Critics warn this is a dangerous way to punish political enemies.
