A Just Appraisal: Co-creating a New Health Equity Framework with Learners through Journal Club to Evaluate the Literature.

Summary: Medical schools want to teach students about fairness in healthcare, which is called "health equity." However, it is often hard for teachers to know exactly how to do this well. A team at a hospital in New York City came up with a great idea: they used "journal clubs." These are meetings where students and doctors read and talk about new medical studies.

The teachers and students worked together to create a new checklist. This checklist helps them look closely at who wrote the study, how the study was done, and the words the authors used. It helps everyone see if the study is fair to all types of patients. The students really liked using this checklist, and 86% of the directors in charge of training the doctors plan to keep using it in the future!
