A narrative review and scoring proposal for secondary lumbar instability after lumbar decompression surgery.

Summary: As we get older, our lower back can get tight and painful, a condition called spinal stenosis. Doctors often do surgery to make more room for the nerves. This helps a lot, but sometimes it makes the spine too loose afterward. To fix this, doctors might use screws and rods (fusion), but that is a much bigger surgery and can cause other problems. In this study, researchers looked at past data on nearly 10,000 patients. They found clues that tell us who might get a loose spine after surgery—like age, weight, and disc size. They made a new 14-point checklist to help doctors guess who is at risk, so they can pick the best and safest surgery for each person!
