A problem from hell: The Russia-Ukraine war
Summary: Dr. Douglas Lundy, an American bone doctor, recently traveled to Ukraine to treat wounded soldiers and civilians. Working at a hospital just 60 miles from the front lines, he treated severe injuries from landmines, drone strikes, and frostbite. He noted that these terrible injuries are as common there as broken hips are in American hospitals. Because drone attacks make helicopter rescues impossible, wounded soldiers often wait more than a day for help. Dr. Lundy shared that the doctors in Ukraine are exhausted but determined, and they face a lifetime of work rebuilding shattered bones.
