A Rare Case of Osteoblastic Osteosarcoma of the Temporal Bone and Comprehensive Review of the Literature.

Summary: Imagine finding a growing, painful lump behind your ear. For one 21-year-old man, this turned out to be a very rare type of bone cancer called osteosarcoma. While this cancer usually affects the long bones in the arms and legs, it can sometimes happen in the skull. Doctors did a biopsy and found it was a fast-growing tumor. Luckily, because of where it was located, surgeons were able to completely remove the 2.8-centimeter lump. After surgery, he received chemotherapy to make sure the cancer was gone. Ten months later, he is doing great with no signs of the cancer returning! This case helps doctors learn how to spot and treat this rare disease.
