A systematic review of medical science students' knowledge and related factors towards burns first aids.
Summary: When we think of doctors, we assume they know exactly what to do in an emergency. However, a recent review of over 5,000 medical science students across five countries reveals a gap in their education regarding burn injuries. On a test of first aid knowledge for burns, these future healthcare professionals scored an average of just 57 out of 100—a "moderate" result. The study found that students who had received specific first aid training or had more clinical experience performed significantly better. The verdict is clear: medical schools need to formally add burn first aid training to their curriculums to ensure graduates are fully prepared to treat patients effectively.
