Admissions and Deaths Due to Heart Failure and Acute Myocardial Infarction in the State of Minas Gerais: Analysis of Time Series.

Summary: Heart disease is a leading cause of death. Researchers looked at hospital records in Brazil from 2016 to 2022 to see when and why adults went to the hospital for heart attacks and heart failure. They found that more men had heart attacks, while more women had heart failure. Winter months and breathing illnesses caused more people to go to the hospital for these heart problems. During the pandemic, fewer people went to the hospital for heart issues, but there was a spike in men dying from heart attacks in late 2020. Overall, heart attacks are going up, but heart failure visits are going down.
