Advanced Lung Cancer Inflammation Index May Predict Recovery Following Stroke Thrombolysis
Summary: Doctors have found a surprising new way to predict how well someone will recover from a stroke. It's called the Advanced Lung Cancer Inflammation Index (ALI). Even though it was originally made for lung cancer, it works great for stroke patients!
ALI looks at a patient's weight, protein levels, and white blood cells to measure their nutrition and inflammation. A new study shows that stroke patients with low ALI scores have a harder time recovering, while those with higher scores do much better. Because hospitals already collect this basic information, using this index could be a fast and cheap way to help stroke patients get the exact care they need.
