AHA: Sedentary Behavior, Light-Intensity Exercise Predictive of Hypertensive Disorders of Pregnancy

Summary: A new study shows that sitting too much and not getting enough light activity are big risk factors for high blood pressure during pregnancy. Researchers looked at 500 pregnant women to find the best daily routine for a healthy pregnancy.

They found that the best schedule to lower blood pressure risks is about 6 hours of sitting, almost 8 hours of light activity, just 4 minutes of harder exercise, and 10 hours of sleep. Women who sat for more than 10 hours a day or did less than 5 hours of light activity had a much higher risk of problems. The main takeaway is that everyday movement and sitting less are super important for a healthy mom and baby.
