AI can predict preemies’ path, Stanford Medicine-led study shows

Summary: Stanford scientists have created a new AI tool to help premature babies. When a baby is born too early, doctors usually take a tiny drop of blood to test it. Now, an AI program can look at the data from that blood and predict if the baby will have problems with their brain, eyes, lungs, or stomach.

The AI is more than 85% accurate! Before this, doctors just had to wait and see who would get sick. Now, they can predict the future and start helping these tiny babies right away. As one doctor said, saving a premature baby gives them an entire lifetime of healthy years.
