Amazing Race contestants launch defamation lawsuit over their edit on the show
Summary: Imagine going on a reality TV show, winning third place, and then having millions of people think you are a terrible husband. That is exactly what happened to Jonathan and Ana Towns on The Amazing Race. Fans of the show thought Jonathan was incredibly rude and mean to his wife on camera. But there is a major twist: Jonathan was later diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder.
Now, the couple is suing the TV networks for $8 million. They claim the producers ignored Jonathan's real emotional "meltdowns" and purposely edited the footage to make him look like an abusive monster instead of someone struggling with an undiagnosed medical condition. Even though they won $10,000 and started a podcast about their experience, they say the bad edit ruined their reputation. They want the money, a public apology, and for the show to add medical warnings to the episodes explaining his autism.
