Summary: When a child is diagnosed with a rare fatty acid disorder, parents often look online for answers. But are these medical websites easy to understand? Researchers checked over 200 top web pages about these conditions. They found that most of the information is written at a high school reading level. This is much harder than the 6th to 8th-grade reading levels recommended by health experts. In fact, fewer than 4 out of 100 websites met the easiest reading goal! To help families make good choices for their kids, medical websites need to be written in simpler, clearer words.
