Appropriate Management of Thrombotic Risk in Patients With Primary Immune Thrombocytopenia in the UK: A Modified Delphi Consensus.

Summary: Imagine having a blood disorder that makes you bleed easily, but at the same time, puts you at a higher risk for dangerous blood clots. This is the reality for people with Immune Thrombocytopenia (ITP). To make things trickier, some medicines used to treat ITP can actually increase the chance of getting a clot. To figure out the safest way to treat these patients, doctors in the UK teamed up. They used a special survey method to agree on the best rules for care. Out of 42 ideas, the experts agreed on 33 key steps. Now, doctors have a clear, agreed-upon guide to help keep ITP patients safe from both bleeding and blood clots.
