Artificial intelligence and physician burnout: A productivity paradox.
Summary: Doctors are feeling very tired and stressed out, a problem known as burnout. A big reason for this is the massive amount of time they spend typing into computers for electronic health records. Many people hope that new Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, like "AI scribes" that listen and take notes automatically, will fix this problem. However, this essay shows that we do not know yet if AI will actually help. We need to test these tools carefully before we change how doctors work and how patients get care. AI might not be the magic fix everyone hopes for just yet.
