Association between eight anthropometric indices and chronic low back pain: A cross-sectional study from the NHANES 2009-2010.

Summary: Carrying extra body weight is known to cause various health issues, but did you know it specifically affects your back? Researchers looked at health data from over 4,700 adults to see how different body fat measurements relate to chronic lower back pain. They tested eight different ways to measure body fat, such as body mass index (BMI) and waist size.

They found that almost all of these measurements strongly predicted back pain. In fact, as body fat increased, the risk of back pain went straight up. The "Conicity Index," which measures how much weight a person carries around their belly, was the most accurate predictor. The main takeaway? Keeping a healthy weight and waistline is a great way to protect your back from chronic pain!
