Association of referral source and acute care transfers from inpatient rehabilitation among patients with brain injury and stroke.
Summary: When veterans recover from a stroke or brain injury, they often go to a rehabilitation center to get their strength back. Does it matter if they come from the same hospital or are transferred from a different one? Doctors looked at 177 patients to find out. They checked if patients had to be sent back to the emergency room and if they got better at moving around. The good news? It didn't matter where they came from! Both groups healed about the same, and their chances of needing to go back to the regular hospital were very similar.
