At Least 80 Dead, 125 Remain Missing After Heavy Rain Triggers Devastating Landslides, Leaving People Buried in Mud
Summary: A week of heavy rain in Southern Ethiopia has caused terrible landslides. Sadly, at least 80 people have died, and 125 are still missing after deep mud buried their homes and fields. More than 3,400 people had to leave their destroyed villages and are now facing a severe humanitarian crisis. Rescue teams are working hard to search the area and miraculously pulled one person out of the mud alive. The country is holding three days of national mourning and flying flags at half-mast to honor the victims.
