Austin teen ranks top 10 nationally in fight to end heart disease

Summary: Catherine McCall, a student at Westlake High School in Austin, just did something amazing. She led a team of 17 girls and raised over $56,000 to fight heart disease, which is the number one cause of death in the country! This huge effort put her in 8th place out of 327 teams nationwide in the American Heart Association’s Teen of Impact campaign.

In total, six local teen teams raised more than $131,000 to help make Austin healthier. Catherine says the 9-week project pushed her out of her comfort zone and taught her a lot about teamwork, leadership, and helping others.
