Automated machine learning for prostate cancer detection and Gleason score prediction using T2WI: a diagnostic multi-center study.
Summary: Prostate cancer is very common in men. To find out how bad the cancer is, doctors usually use needles to take small pieces of the prostate. This is called a biopsy. It can be painful and sometimes misses the cancer. In this study, scientists used a smart computer program (artificial intelligence) to look at MRI scans instead. They found that the computer could spot the cancer and tell how bad it was just by looking at the pictures. This means in the future, men might not need as many painful needle tests to find out about their prostate cancer.
