Behavioral Therapy + Transcutaneous Tibial Nerve Stimulation Best for Overactive Bladder
Summary: Older women who suffer from an overactive bladder can find relief with behavioral therapy. But a new study shows that adding a gentle treatment called transcutaneous tibial nerve stimulation (TTNS) works even better. Researchers looked at two groups of women. One group just used behavioral therapy. The other group used both behavioral therapy and the nerve stimulator. Both groups felt better and had a better quality of life. However, the group that used both treatments saw a much bigger drop in nighttime bathroom trips and sudden urinary urges. This shows that adding this simple, non-invasive nerve treatment is a highly effective way to help older women manage bladder issues.
