Beyond the Digital Divide: Factors Associated With Adoption of Technologies Related to Aging in Place.

Summary: Technology offers a lifeline for older adults who wish to "age in place," allowing them to live independently in their own homes for longer. However, the digital divide remains a hurdle; not everyone adopts these tools easily. This study used a specific method called the Technology Assessment Procedure to group older adults into different "classes" of technology users. By understanding these specific user types and their unique characteristics—such as cognitive ability or physical health—caregivers and developers can better match technology to the senior, ensuring that digital tools truly support independence rather than causing frustration.
