Bioelectrical impedance analysis parameters are superior to liver enzymes in predicting metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease in young adults.
Summary: Imagine trying to find out if a young adult has a fatty liver. Doctors often use blood tests to check liver enzymes. But a new study found a better way! Researchers looked at over 2,600 young adults and compared standard blood tests to a special scale that measures body fat and muscle (called BIA). They discovered that measuring body fat, belly fat, and muscle is actually much better at predicting fatty liver disease than the standard blood tests. This means doctors might be able to use a simple, painless body scan to catch liver problems early in young people.
