Calcium, Vitamin D, Combo Supplements Do Little to Prevent Fracture, Falls

Summary: Many adults take calcium and vitamin D pills hoping to stop broken bones and falls. But a big review of 69 studies with over 150,000 people found a surprise. Taking calcium, vitamin D, or both together does little to nothing to prevent fractures or falls. Most of the people in the studies lived at home and were not at high risk for falls. The researchers say there is no need to take these supplements every day just to protect your bones from breaking.
