Capsular Tension Ring Implantation for Intraocular Lens Power Calculation in Highly Myopic Eyes: Secondary Analysis of a Randomized Clinical Trial.
Summary: Imagine you need cataract surgery, and you are very nearsighted (a condition called high myopia). Doctors put an artificial lens in your eye, but picking the exact right lens power can be tricky. Sometimes, they also put in a tiny ring called a Capsular Tension Ring (CTR) to keep the lens steady. This study looked at whether using that ring helps doctors guess the right lens power better. They found that for people who are extremely nearsighted (with very long eyes), using the ring actually helps the newest computer formulas pick the perfect lens. So, if your eye is very long, this ring is a great choice!
