Caregiving preparedness and depression as key predictors of quality of life in primary stroke caregivers: a cross-sectional study in Taiwan.
Summary: Taking care of a loved one who has had a stroke is incredibly hard work. This study looked at 145 stroke caregivers in Taiwan to see what affects their quality of life. The researchers found that feeling depressed is the biggest reason caregivers feel their life quality is low. On the flip side, feeling ready and prepared to give care makes a huge positive difference. To help caregivers live better lives, we need to offer them support for their mental health and teach them the skills they need to feel confident.
