Case Report: Two Cases of Kikuchi Disease in West Texas With Non-Self-Limited Disease.
Summary: Kikuchi disease is a rare illness that usually causes fever and swollen lymph nodes before going away completely on its own. However, sometimes it can be much more serious. Doctors in Texas recently treated two patients who did not get better easily. One was a 13-year-old girl who had a fever for two months and later found out she had lupus. The other was a 36-year-old woman who developed a very dangerous immune system problem. These stories show that doctors need to watch patients with this disease closely because it is not always harmless.
