Causal relationship between chronic kidney disease, renal function, and venous thromboembolism: a bidirectional Mendelian randomization study.

Summary: Did you know that having kidney problems might increase your chances of getting a dangerous blood clot? Scientists looked at the DNA of many people to see if poor kidney health actually causes blood clots in the veins (a condition called VTE). They found that when kidneys aren't working well—which is shown by high levels of a waste product called creatinine in the blood—the risk of getting a blood clot goes up. Because of this, doctors should keep a close eye on patients with kidney disease to help prevent these dangerous clots before they happen.
