<![CDATA[FDA Approves Ruxolitinib Tablets for Hematologic Malignancies ]]>
Summary: The FDA just approved a new, extended-release version of the drug ruxolitinib, called Jakafi XR. It is used to treat certain blood conditions like myelofibrosis, polycythemia vera, and graft-versus-host disease (GVHD). In the past, managing these treatments could be confusing and require taking pills multiple times a day. Now, patients have the option to take just one pill a day. While it can still cause side effects like low blood cell counts, bruising, dizziness, or headaches, this new once-daily tablet makes sticking to a treatment plan much easier for patients.
