Characterization of a prototype rapid kilovoltage x-ray image guidance system designed for a linear accelerator radiation therapy unit.
Summary: Radiation therapy relies on precise imaging to target tumors while sparing healthy tissue. A new imaging system, called Hypersight-CBCT, was recently tested against older models. The study found that Hypersight takes X-ray images much faster—cutting scan times significantly—while producing sharper, higher-quality pictures. Crucially, it achieves these better results while exposing the "patient" (in this case, testing equipment) to less radiation. This upgrade promises faster, safer, and more accurate cancer treatments.
