Summary: A fungal infection called sporotrichosis is spreading among pet cats in the Brazilian Amazon. This disease is dangerous because it can easily spread from sick cats to their human owners. In this study, scientists looked closely at 29 infected cats in the city of Manaus to understand their symptoms. They also worked on making a better, faster DNA test (called a PCR test) to correctly identify the fungus. This will help veterinarians diagnose the cats faster, treat them better, and keep families safe from the infection!
