Clinical Characteristics and Outcomes of a Cohort of Multiethnic Asian Patients with Cardiac Myxoma.

Summary: A cardiac myxoma is the most common type of tumor found inside the heart, but it is still very rare. Doctors looked at 64 Asian patients who had this heart tumor over a 17-year period. They found that more people are being diagnosed before they even feel sick, likely because of better routine health screenings. About 3 out of 4 patients had surgery to remove the tumor. The patients who had surgery lived longer and had fewer heart problems. Patients who did not have surgery often had other serious illnesses, like kidney or heart disease, which made their outcomes worse. The main takeaway is that finding the tumor early and having surgery works best!
