Clinical efficacy, safety and prognostic factors of photodynamic therapy for human papillomavirus infection with vaginal squamous intraepithelial lesion.

Summary: Vaginal intraepithelial neoplasia (VaIN) is a condition linked to the HPV virus. It can be hard to treat because it often comes back, and older treatments can be painful or hard to stick with. Doctors looked at a newer, gentle treatment called ALA-PDT (a type of light therapy) in 156 women. They found that it works very well and is safe, with almost no bad side effects. The best part? It worked just as well no matter the patient's age, the type of HPV they had, or how severe the disease was.
