Clinical Outcomes of Different Generation EGFR TKIs in Susceptible EGFR-Mutated Advanced Nonsmall-Cell Lung Cancer.
Summary: Lung cancer can sometimes be treated with special pills that target a gene called EGFR. Doctors looked at 421 patients to see which generation of these pills worked best: first, second, or third. They found that the newest pills (third-generation) kept the cancer from growing for the longest time and helped patients live longer. This was especially true for patients with a specific type of gene change. Starting with the newest pill right away gave the best results compared to starting with older pills.
