Clinical outcomes of rehabilitation for patients following lateral patellar dislocation: a systematic review.

Summary: When your kneecap (patella) pops out of place, the standard medical advice is often "go to physical therapy." But does it actually work, and which exercises are best? A systematic review of 29 studies found that while a large portion of patients report "acceptable" results and improved stability after rehabilitation, there is a surprising lack of high-quality science detailing exactly which exercises prevent the injury from happening again. While therapy is generally helpful, the current research is vague. Doctors and therapists urgently need better, more specific studies to pinpoint the perfect workout plan for a stable knee.
