CMS wants seniors to use AI for care navigation

Summary: The government wants older Americans to use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to help manage their Medicare. Dr. Mehmet Oz, the head of CMS, says AI can help seniors find doctors and pick health plans. This could also help lower the high cost of healthcare. Right now, the government is already using AI to catch fraud, like stopping $259 million in bad claims in Minnesota.

However, there is a big problem: most seniors do not trust AI. Only 31% feel safe using it for health advice. Experts also warn that AI can make mistakes, like failing to tell someone to go to the ER for breathing problems. Still, officials from the CMS and the U.S. DOGE Service say the technology will only get smarter and more helpful over time.
