Comparative toxicity of the isoxazolines afoxolaner, fluralaner, and fluxametamide, and the meta-diamide broflanilide against adult Aedes aegypti (Diptera: Culicidae) and Anopheles quadrimaculatus (Diptera: Culicidae).

Summary: Mosquitoes spread dangerous diseases like malaria and yellow fever around the world. Sadly, they are becoming immune to the bug sprays we usually use to stop them. Scientists tested new types of bug killers (called isoxazolines and meta-diamides) on two kinds of mosquitoes. They found that these new chemicals work very well, even on mosquitoes that survive the old bug sprays! Better yet, these new chemicals are safe for humans and pets. This means we have a very promising new weapon to fight disease-carrying mosquitoes.
