Construction of a Diagnostic Prediction Model for Feline Nasal and Nasopharyngeal Diseases in Japan Using Noninvasive Examinations.

Summary: When cats get sick in their nose or throat, veterinarians usually need to put them to sleep (using general anesthesia) to run deep tests and figure out what's wrong. However, some cats are too old or weak for this deep sleep. Researchers in Japan created a new way to guess what is wrong using simple, safe checks and the cat's health history. They tested this on over 100 cats with tumors, swelling (rhinitis), or narrowed throats. They found that two of their new checklists worked really well to predict the exact disease. This means vets can better decide if a cat really needs the risky, deep-sleep tests or if they can be treated safely without them!
