Contributing Factors to Medication Administration Errors Among Novice Registered Nurses: An Integrative Review.

Summary: New nurses sometimes make mistakes when giving medicine to patients. This can be dangerous, but it is highly preventable. Researchers looked at 11 studies to find out why these errors happen. They found that new nurses often feel rushed, have too much work, and work in highly stressful places. They might also lack confidence or be afraid to ask for help when they are unsure. To fix this problem, nursing schools need to teach more about medicines and use hands-on practice simulations so new nurses feel ready and safe on the job.
