Dallas teen named 2026 American Heart Association Teen of Impact winner
Summary: Heart disease is the number one cause of death in the U.S., but 80% of it can be prevented. Fina Burres, a high school senior from Dallas, knows this firsthand. In 2024, she ended up in the cardiac intensive care unit with a dangerously high heart rate and a rare heart condition. Instead of letting it stop her, Fina fought back. She organized events, like a charity Pilates class, and helped raise over $212,000 with other teens. Because of her hard work, she was just named the 2026 Dallas Teen of Impact by the American Heart Association. Now, she is heading to college in Los Angeles to study medicine so she can help other people with tricky heart problems.
