Summary: Liver cancer is very hard to treat. Doctors often try to block the blood supply to the tumor to starve it. But sometimes, the tumor fights back by growing brand-new blood vessels to survive. To stop this from happening, scientists invented tiny, sponge-like beads. These special beads do three things at once: they block the blood supply, they heat up to weaken the tumor, and they slowly release a strong cancer-fighting medicine. In tests with rabbits, these tiny beads did a fantastic job at destroying the cancer and stopping it from growing back. It is a very promising new treatment!
