Deriving Insights From an Occupational Incident Reporting System to Enhance Understanding of Musculoskeletal Incidents Among Nurses and Midwives.

Summary: Nurses and midwives often get hurt on the job, especially when helping patients move. This study looked at injury reports in Australia to see how often this happens and what causes it. They found that back and trunk injuries are very common. These injuries lead to a lot of missed work—for every 206 hours worked, one hour is lost to injury! It also costs millions of dollars every year. The biggest reasons for these injuries are heavy lifting and unpredictable patient behavior. By tracking these risks better, hospitals can find new ways to keep both staff and patients safe from falls and injuries.
