Determination of 22 mycotoxins in wheat grains cultivated in two Moroccan climatic areas by UHPLC-MS/MS.
Summary: Mold can grow on crops like wheat and leave behind harmful chemicals called mycotoxins. Scientists tested 248 wheat samples from two different areas in Morocco to see how safe they were. They found that wheat grown near the coast had more of these toxins (53%) than wheat grown inland (32%). Some wheat even had up to four different toxins at once! Luckily, only four samples were over the safe legal limit. This shows we need to keep testing our food to make sure it stays safe for everyone to eat.
