Diabetes and Smoking Associated With Increased Pancreatic Cyst Risk
Summary: A huge study of nearly 4 million adults looked at who is most likely to get cysts on their pancreas. They found that if you have diabetes, your chances go up. The longer you have had diabetes, the higher your risk becomes. The study also showed that the people with the highest risk are men, people under 60 years old, and people who currently smoke. Even though doctors are not completely sure if diabetes directly causes these cysts, they believe having high blood sugar plays a big part in the problem.
