Diabetes linked to worse long COVID recovery after hospitalisation
Summary: A study from Brazil shows that people with diabetes have a much harder time recovering after being in the hospital for COVID-19. Seven months later, they had more heart problems, fell down more often, and felt weaker than people without diabetes. COVID-19 and diabetes both cause stress and swelling inside the body, which makes bouncing back really tough. Surprisingly, about 7% of people who didn't have diabetes actually developed it after their COVID-19 infection! If you have diabetes, recovering from COVID-19 takes extra time, monitoring, and care.
