Differences in allele frequencies of personality-related genes in three varieties of Shiba Inu in Japan.

Summary: Did you know not all Shiba Inus are exactly the same? Originally bred as hunting dogs in Japan, most Shibas today are just loving household pets. But some rare types, like the Mino-Shiba and San'in-Shiba, still act a lot like their wild hunting ancestors! Scientists recently looked at the DNA of these different Shibas. They found that the pet Shibas and the hunting Shibas actually have different genes, especially the ones linked to their personality. This helps explain why some Shibas love to hunt and chase, while others just want to cuddle on the couch!
