Do headaches impact pregnancy planning behaviors? A cross-sectional school-based study in Japan.
Summary: Headaches can be really painful, but do they stop people from wanting to have babies? Researchers in Japan asked parents with headaches about their family plans. Out of 562 moms, about 4% said they avoided getting pregnant because of their headaches. The moms who avoided pregnancy had more severe headache pain, felt sick to their stomachs, and were bothered by loud noises. They worried about taking care of a baby while in pain, or they worried that headache medicine might hurt the baby. This shows that bad headaches can actually change a family's plans for the future.
