Early Continuous Glucose Monitor Use in Children and Adolescents With Type 1 Diabetes: Rates of Initiation and Impact on Glycemic Outcomes.

Summary: For children diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, timing is everything. A major new study of over 4,000 kids found that starting a Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM) within the first six months of diagnosis leads to significantly better blood sugar control three years later. While most families eventually adopt this technology, those who started early (0–6 months) had much healthier outcomes compared to those who waited or didn't use one at all. Getting a head start with a CGM appears to set the stage for long-term health success.
