Ecuador, first country in Latin America and the Caribbean to acquire mobile cold-chain vehicles for vaccines through PAHO
Summary: Ecuador is making history! It is the first country in Latin America and the Caribbean to get a fleet of special 4x4 trucks just for carrying vaccines. These 40 new vehicles have high-tech refrigerators that keep vaccines perfectly chilled between 2°C and 8°C. This means the medicine stays safe and fresh even on bumpy roads or in hot, tropical weather.
Before this, vaccines were mostly moved in coolers with ice. Thanks to the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), these new trucks will help make sure that families in the most remote neighborhoods get safe, working vaccines without having to rely on luck.
