Effects of long-term low-dose 2.45 GHz microwave electromagnetic radiation on vulnerable organs in humans: a retrospective study based on patients receiving microwave diathermies in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine.

Summary: Is Microwave Therapy Safe?

Microwave diathermy is a common rehabilitation treatment used to heat deep tissues and relieve pain. However, concerns often arise regarding radiation safety: does long-term exposure harm vulnerable organs like the eyes or heart?

A recent study looked back at 113 patients who received between 20 and 100 low-dose microwave treatments five years ago. The researchers compared those who had "multiple" sessions (20–50) against those with "ultra-multiple" sessions (50–100).

The Verdict: The therapy appears safe. There was no significant difference in health issues—such as eye damage, tumors, or heart disease—between the two groups. While some patients did experience health declines, statistical analysis showed these were linked to advanced age and obesity, not the number of microwave treatments.
