Emotion Dynamics in Young and Cognitively Diverse Older Adults.

Summary: As we get older, we usually become happier and more emotionally stable. But what happens if an older person starts having mild memory problems, known as Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI)? Researchers asked young adults, healthy older adults, and older adults with MCI to track their feelings on their phones seven times a day for nine days.

They found that all older adults felt less negative and more positive than the young adults. However, older adults with MCI had more mood swings than the healthy older adults. They also felt more nervous, more bored, and less excited. This shows that early memory problems might also change how a person handles their daily feelings and emotional balance.
